REQUIRED:

Ph.D. in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, applied physics or other relevant fields; and be skilled in coarse-grained simulation methods, rheology, parallel computing and strong analytical skills. PREFERRED:
Familiarity with electrolytes; or experience with AI-based chemical discovery.

Research scientist position will be offered if the candidate has 3 years of postdoc experience with publication record.

POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Chemical Engineering, in the area of complex fluids and ionic liquids, will work under the direction of Professor Maggie Qi to establish a coarse-grained simulation framework for non-Newtonian properties of biocompatible ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents. This position will focus on deriving mathematical equations and implementing them in coarse-grained simulation tools (molecular dynamics, dissipative particle dynamics etc.) to understand the dynamic properties of ionic liquids.

The postdoc will also perform all-atom MD simulations to extract key chemical signatures for the coarse-grained model. Later this work will be combined with the group's experimental characterizations on various chemicals and form a screening framework for biofuel processing, biomaterials etc.
