Senior Principal Scientist, Lab Head, Immunomodulation - Cell Reprogramming – Cambridge, MA
Sanofi Oncology is seeking a highly motivated individual with project leadership experience and deep knowledge in immuno‑oncology. This individual will play a leading role in developing novel cell reprogramming and other therapies aimed at modifying the tumor microenvironment to treat cancer. The successful candidate will lead a team within the Immunomodulation & Cell Reprogramming Cluster where they are expected to support progression of existing programs, develop new projects, and contribute to the growth of the Immuno‑Oncology portfolio.
The position is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.
- Lead and manage a team of scientists and cross‑functional research teams, ensuring timely progression of projects from early concepts to first‑in‑human studies.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering scientific excellence, professional growth, and a lead‑by‑example culture.
- Develop clear scientific strategies to support departmental goals and allocate resources to drive overall group performance.
- Demonstrate innovation in research with deep understanding of clinical translation.
- Apply scientific expertise to initiate, design, direct, and execute experiments while ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and documentation protocols.
- Keep current with developments in basic research, clinical development, and the competitive landscape.
- Publish and present findings in peer‑reviewed journals and scientific conferences.
- Ph.D. in Immunology, Immuno‑Oncology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of post‑graduate research experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry.
- Deep knowledge in immunological mechanisms or tumor immunology.
- Experience in cell therapy and/or tumor microenvironment research.
- Hands‑on experience in isolation and immune phenotyping of murine and human immune populations (e.g., cell sorting, flow cytometry), functional assessment of immune subsets (e.g., proliferation, cytotoxicity, cytokine/chemokine measurement), and murine tumor models including immune‑deficient and humanized mice.
- Familiarity with techniques for genetically modifying immune cells to express novel transgenes.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
Employees may be eligible to participate in company employee benefit programs. The salary range for this position is $148,500 – $214,500, and compensation will be determined commensurate with demonstrated experience.
