Postdoctoral Associate
Postdoctoral Associate, Chemical Engineering, in the area of fluid mechanics, transport phenomena and biomechanics, will work under the direction of Professor Maggie Qi to model the movement of leukocytes from blood circulation to inflamed tissues. This position will focus on first applying lubrication analysis combined with biophysical modeling to study the cell squeezing motion during transendothelial migration. Later this work will be combined with the group's existing work on nanoparticle-cell interactions to model the motion of engineered leukocytes.
The postdoc researcher will also work with experimentalists in the group to compare findings. The goal of the work is to develop mechanistic models to gain physical insights to inflammation and accelerate the design of immunotherapies.
REQUIRED:
Ph.D. in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, applied physics, applied mathematics, biophysics or other relevant fields; and be skilled in analytical methods and numerical methods for transport modeling. PREFERRED:
Exposure to biologically relevant problems.
