Sr. Scientist, Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease
Cambridge, MA USA
Pro Found™ Therapeutics is a biotechnology company discovering novel proteins across the expanded human proteome to unlock first-in-class medicines and transformative drug targets. The company's proprietary Pro Foundry™ Platform integrates state-of-the-art protein detection, validation, and computational technologies to systematically identify and characterize previously inaccessible proteins and validate their therapeutic potential. This approach has generated a rapidly expanding portfolio of novel targets and programs advancing toward the clinic, along with strategic collaborations with leading pharmaceutical partners.
We are seeking an exceptional Scientist or Senior Scientist to lead and support discovery efforts in projects in Cardiovascular and Metabolic Disease. This role will contribute to shaping our pipeline, bringing scientific leadership and creativity to target validation, drug discovery translational biology. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in cardiovascular or metabolic disease biology, a passion for novel biology, and experience designing and executing mechanistic and pharmacology studies that bridge in vitro and in vivo models.
This is a high-impact, cross-functional role with the opportunity to work closely with platform scientists, computational biologists, and drug discovery teams to identify and advance novel targets into drug development.
Key Responsibilities- Drive discovery research in cardiovascular and/or metabolic disease areas by designing, executing, and interpreting mechanistic studies using state-of-the-art models and technologies
- Lead target validation efforts informed by proteomic and computational insights; develop hypotheses and prioritize targets with high translational potential
- Collaborate with computational biology and proteomics teams to interpret large-scale datasets (e.g., proteomic, transcriptomic, genetic) and generate novel biological insights
- Design and oversee in vitro and in vivo models of disease to support target biology, candidate selection, biomarker development, and proof-of-concept studies
- Contribute to building and refining the company's therapeutic strategy in CVD/metabolic disease
- Communicate findings clearly and effectively in cross-functional team meetings, external collaborations, and presentations to leadership
- Support or lead external academic and industry collaborations
Required
- Ph.D. in physiology, pharmacology, cell biology, or a related field; postdoctoral training or industry experience strongly preferred
- 2+ years (Scientist) or 5+ years (Senior Scientist) of relevant postdoctoral or industry experience
- Experience working in biotech or pharma; experience with cellular assays and in vitro pharmacology assays. Hands-on expertise in cellular/molecular biology techniques (e.g., CRISPR, ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting, RNAseq) and assay development
- Strong track record of scientific contributions (publications, patents, presentations)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred
- Deep understanding of disease mechanisms and translational models in one or more areas: obesity, type 2 diabetes, atherosclerosis, heart failure, MASH, lipid metabolism or vascular disease.
- Ability to integrate multi-omic or genetic data into experimental design
- Familiarity with target identification and validation processes
- Experience with human tissue samples, iPSC-derived systems, or organoid models is a plus
We are seeking individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong communication skills, and comfort working in and contributing to a dynamic and cross-functional team environment. The level of the role will be commensurate with the education and years of experience of the identified candidate.
At Flagship, we recognize there is no perfect candidate. If you have some of the experience listed above but not all, please apply anyway. Experience comes in many forms, skills are transferable, and passion goes a long way. We are dedicated to building diverse and inclusive teams and look forward to learning more…
