Job Description & How to Apply Below

Scientist, DMPK

The mission of DMPK is to enable efficient and successful drug discovery and development of siRNA and other therapeutic candidates by characterizing and interpreting ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) and PK/PD (pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics) relationships through quantitative pharmacology and modeling, consequently guiding candidate selection, human dose projection, and successful regulatory filings and interactions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative pharmacology, PK/PD modeling, and pharmacokinetic data analysis, a solid understanding of ADME and drug disposition, and exceptional problem-solving and communication skills to successfully collaborate with multiple project teams in a matrixed and fast-paced environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant team and interact with highly motivated scientists across a broad array of disciplinary expertise areas. This position is onsite and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support DMPK strategy across drug discovery and development by designing, executing, and interpreting in vitro and in vivo ADME and PK/PD studies for siRNA and other therapeutic modalities.
  • Apply quantitative pharmacology approaches—including non-compartmental analysis, compartmental PK/PD, PBPK, and mechanistic/systems modeling—to characterize drug disposition and exposure–response relationships.
  • Integrate PK, PD, and biomarker data to inform candidate selection, human dose projection, and first-in-human dose predictions.
  • Build, qualify, and clearly document models and simulations using tools such as Phoenix Win Nonlin, Monolix, R, and other equivalent tools.
  • Contribute to the design of preclinical and translational studies that support progression of candidates from discovery through clinical development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams (bioanalysis, chemistry, biology, toxicology, and clinical pharmacology) to analyze data and communicate quantitative pharmacology insights.
  • Prepare clear, well-documented analyses, reports, and presentations, and contribute to regulatory submissions as needed.
  • Complete projects in a timely and clearly documented manner while maintaining high scientific and data-quality standards.
  • Stay current with emerging modeling methodologies and scientific literature to continuously strengthen the team's quantitative capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacology, chemical or biomedical engineering, or a related quantitative discipline with 0+ years of relevant experience; or exceptional non-PhD (Masters degree with 5+ years, or Bachelors degree with 10+ years of relevant industry experience in DMPK or quantitative pharmacology.
  • Strong foundation in quantitative pharmacology and PK/PD modeling, with hands-on experience in non-compartmental and compartmental data analysis.
  • Exposure to PBPK, population PK, or systems/mechanistic pharmacology modeling is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency with modeling, simulation, and programming tools (e.g., Phoenix Win Nonlin, Monolix, R).
  • Solid understanding of ADME principles and the drug discovery and development process; knowledge of oligonucleotide therapeutics (e.g., siRNA, ASO) or other novel modalities is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong problem solving ability and adaptability, in and out of their comfort zone.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects, and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Has strong interpersonal skills to enable collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
