We anticipate hiring one or more post-doctoral fellows in the Department of Psychology at the Harvard University to begin later this year (with specific start date negotiable, and dependent on the timeline of NIH award processing). This position will be based in the Affective Neuroscience and Development Lab, led by Leah Somerville, and will involve close collaboration with Katie McLaughlin.

This position will involve leading independent research as well as analysis of data on a recently completed longitudinal study examining neurodevelopmental mechanisms linking stress with the emergence of adolescent psychopathology in an intensive longitudinal study that followed adolescents monthly over the course of one year. The dataset involves monthly assessment of stress, psychopathology, emotion, cognition, social behavior, and structural and functional neuroimaging along with continuously acquired digital phenotyping data across the entire year using wearable devices assessing sleep and physical activity and data scraped from smartphones on social communication, locations traversed, and engagement with screens.

In addition, the study involves repeated assessment of pubertal hormones and multiple metrics of cellular aging.

Specific activities will include analysis of data from this intensive longitudinal study focused on identifying mechanisms linking stress with psychopathology at the within-person level, supervising and mentoring younger members of the lab in independent research projects, grant writing, and leading independent research.

Candidates will have a doctoral degree in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, or a related area. Strong candidates will have a track record of research on psychopathology in children and adolescents, interest and expertise in the developmental consequences of stress, the ability to effectively manage a research team, and experience analyzing multi-modal data.
