We are seeking a Peptide Discovery Scientist (Scientist II / Senior Scientist) (title to be determined based on experience) to own peptide discovery programs and build decision-grade assay platforms across dermatology discovery. As the scientific driver for one or more parallel work streams, you will lead efforts from initial library selection through lead optimization while mentoring junior scientists and partnering cross-functionally with chemistry, formulation, and external CROs.
In this role you will:
- Lead peptide hit discovery and SAR campaigns to identify and optimize peptide leads against novel therapeutic targets.
- Apply deep knowledge of macrocyclic and linear peptide properties required for different routes of administration to guide design and library strategy.
- Design, execute, and interpret data from either computational design platforms or library-based peptide screening technologies, including OBOC, mRNA display, phage display, AS/MS.
- Manage external CRO projects end-to-end across study design, quality control, timeline accountability, and data analysis to inform go/no-go decisions and guide iterative peptide design.
- Build, run, and interpret complex assay cascades spanning biophysical characterization, functional protein-/cell-based assays, and safety screening to guide candidate progression.
- Collaborate with formulation chemists on peptide bioavailability, stability, and delivery strategy.
- Serve as the technical owner for program milestones, including experimental design, data interpretation, strategic recommendations, and documentation for internal review.
- Foster a culture of scientific rigor, innovation, and leadership within ODDITY LABS and across ODDITY teams.
- Ph.D. in Protein Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, or a related field with a focus on peptide chemistry, accompanied by 3+ years of industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in peptide hit discovery and SAR campaigns, using structure-based and ligand-based drug design to guide rational peptide modifications.
- Proven experience building, executing, and interpreting complex assay cascades, spanning biophysical characterization, functional protein screening, and cell-based models.
- Deep knowledge of macrocyclic and linear peptide properties required for different routes of administration, paired with hands-on experience in library-based screening technologies (e.g., OBOC, mRNA display, phage display, AS/MS etc).
- Working knowledge of protein biophysics (stability, folding, aggregation) and standard characterization methods (CD, DSF, SEC-MALS).
- Experience managing external CRO engagements and collaborating cross-functionally with internal chemistry, formulation, and safety science teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills driven by deep scientific curiosity to tackle complex anti-aging research questions.
- Familiarity with machine learning and AI-driven platforms for sequence optimization, property prediction, and novel scaffold generation
- Experience with computational chemistry software (e.g., Schrödinger, MOE, Maestro, or similar) for molecular modeling, conformational sampling, and molecular dynamics simulations
- Direct experience in dermatology R&D — anti-aging mechanisms, pigmentation, acne/sebaceous biology, or inflammatory skin conditions
