Role
Principal Scientist leading physics-based engineering simulation within the Digital Insights team to optimize bioprocess scale-up and technology transfer for biologics, small molecules, and other modalities.
Responsibilities- conduct CFD and transport phenomena modeling of bioreactor mixing, gassing, and other unit operations
- develop and validate scale-down models
- provide technical leadership and mentorship
- shape modeling standards and roadmap
- support cross-functional teams with simulation insights to inform CMC decisions
- Ph.D. or M.S. in engineering, physics, or related fields with 6+ to 8+ years of industrial/pharma experience
- expertise in CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL, OpenFOAM), transport phenomena, and bioprocess scale-up
- strong scripting skills (Python/MATLAB)
- proven ability to validate models against experimental data
- experience in biologics, cell culture bioreactor scale-up, shear-sensitive biologics, single-use systems, multiphase modeling, and process development
