** The Role
** This is a full-time co-op based in Cambridge, MA from
** January 18, 2027 – June 25, 2027**. Candidates must be available for the entire duration of the program.
Immuno-Oncology Research at Moderna is seeking a talented and motivated co-op to join our efforts supporting the development of new mRNA-based drugs for cancer therapy. The Co-op will use cell and molecular biology techniques to support the development of mRNA-based Immunotherapies and will have the opportunity to help contribute to pivotal research, such as potency of drugs in development, characterization of therapeutic targets, in vitro or in vivo model development, and readouts of activity and efficacy.
The Co-op will work on an individual project that is important to Moderna Oncology’s mission with support from an experienced mentor who will provide guidance on projects and career development.
** Here’s What You’ll Do
*** Partner with experienced Immuno-Oncology lab scientists to learn and apply core cell and molecular biology techniques.
* Learn how to design, execute, and analyze experiments supporting Immuno-Oncology programs.
* Have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of research activities and get hands-on experience with assays such as primary cell isolation, cell culture, ELISA/MSD assays, cell-based functional assays, flow cytometry, and tissue processing for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies.
* Present work to program teams and participate in department-wide meetings and discussions.
* Make meaningful contributions to a pivotal Immuno-Oncology program.
* Maintain a safe laboratory environment and follow all site safety and compliance requirements.
* Maintain an organized work area and electronic lab notebook.
** Here’s What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)
*** Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in a STEM field (e.g., Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Bio Engineering, or related discipline).
* Previous co-op experience is a plus
* Technical experience in the following areas is preferred: mammalian tissue culture, cell transfection, protein detection methods (MSD/ELISA), assay development and troubleshooting
* Prior experience in flow cytometry is a plus
* The candidate should be self-motivated and possess the desire to drive a project to completion. The co-op must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

*** GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent academic achievement.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skill.
* High attention to detail and commitment to quality and compliance.
* Interest in working within a rigorous, lab-based Immuno-Oncology department.
