Position SummaryThe Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for driving new business growth by identifying, prospecting, and closing new commercial clients within an assigned territory. This role is highly focused on outbound sales activity, face-to-face client engagement, and consistent execution of Fikes’ sales process. The ideal candidate is motivated, goal-oriented, and thrives in a performance-driven environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProspecting & Lead Generation
- Identify and contact prospective business clients through cold calling, networking, referrals, and in-field prospecting.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified leads that align with Fikes’ Ideal Client Profile (ICP).
Sales Visits & Solution Development
- Schedule and conduct face-to-face sales appointments to assess client needs.
- Present tailored Fikes service and product solutions that address client challenges and business goals.
Closing & Revenue Growth
- Prepare accurate quotes, negotiate terms, and close new business to meet or exceed monthly sales goals.
- Maintain awareness of deal profitability and avoid underselling to protect revenue and margin expectations.
Client Relationship Building
- Establish trust-based relationships with new clients to support long-term retention, upselling, and referrals.
- Ensure smooth handoffs to the account management team following deal closure.
Territory & Activity Management
- Plan and manage daily routes, prospecting efforts, and sales activities within the assigned territory.
- Dedicate the majority of time to revenue-generating activities, including in-field meetings and active prospecting.
CRM & Administrative Excellence
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Hub Spot CRM, including leads, opportunities, client notes, and activity tracking.
- Use CRM data to manage the sales pipeline and track progress toward individual goals.
Market & Industry Awareness
- Stay informed on Fikes services, industry trends, and competitor offerings to effectively position solutions.
- Consistently execute daily KPIs and focus on meeting established “Winning Conditions” that drive individual and team success.
- Actively contribute to company growth by acquiring new clients and expanding market presence.
- Take ownership of personal performance through adherence to sales processes, openness to feedback, and adaptability in daily execution.
- Embrace real-time coaching to continuously refine selling skills and effectively apply the Fikes sales methodology.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the Ideal Client Profile, including business type, size, and fit, to prioritize high-opportunity prospects.
- Follow the complete sales process from initial prospecting through closing, ensuring professionalism and consistency at every stage.
- Show initiative, self-motivation, and accountability in managing tasks, schedules, and goals.
- Take pride in earning trust, building new business, and leading by example through consistent effort and high standards of performance.
- Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, or outside sales.
- Strong prospecting, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Comfortable with cold calling and in-person sales meetings.
- Experience using CRM systems (Hub Spot preferred).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within assigned territory.
- Competitive base of $65,000 - $75,000 salary, OTE $110,000+
