The Director of Business Development & Federal Operations is a full-time, on-site role based in Cambridge, MA. This role is responsible for leading strategic growth initiatives across Federal and Commercial markets, including identifying new opportunities, cultivating relationships with key decision-makers, and guiding the pursuit of RFPs and proposals. The Director oversees Federal operations from opportunity identification through contract execution and closeout, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and alignment with NCHI’s quality and efficiency standards.
Day-to-day activities include developing business plans, managing a pipeline of leads, directing account management efforts, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with project and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery. The role also involves monitoring market trends, representing NCHI at industry events, and contributing to continuous improvement of systems and processes that support scalable growth.
- Demonstrated expertise in new business development and lead generation, with the ability to build and maintain a robust pipeline in Federal and Commercial construction markets.
- Strong business planning and strategic growth skills, including market analysis, opportunity assessment, and long-term account development.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation and account management, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements and sustained client relationships.
- Deep understanding of Federal contracting processes, compliance requirements, and RFP/RFQ management within the construction or related industries.
- Experience collaborating with operations and project teams to align business development activities with delivery capabilities and quality standards.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with executives, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities, including proficiency with CRM tools and data-driven decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, government contracting) are a plus.
- Prior leadership experience in a construction, engineering, or professional services environment, preferably with Federal sector exposure.
