BioNTech is developing novel Antibody‑Drug Conjugates (ADCs), protein degraders and other targeted therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, aiming to maximize efficacy while minimizing toxic effects. The Senior Scientist will help design and synthesize payloads, linkers, and linker‑payloads required for ADCs, and may also contribute to conjugation steps, preparing presentations for the team and upper management.
Primary Responsibilities- Work with a team designing and producing protein degraders, ADCs and other targeted therapeutics.
- Design, synthesize, and purify small molecules, peptides, potent payloads, and conjugate them to proteins.
- Use NMR, HPLC/UPLC, LC‑MS techniques to prove identity and purity of prepared compounds.
- Prepare presentations and collaborate cross‑functionally with teams in formulation, drug delivery, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
- Liaise with BioNTech partners, CROs and CDMOs.
- Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry; 3+ years industry experience developing PROTACs, molecular glues or other protein degraders.
- Hands‑on experience preparing complex organic molecules and using HPLC, LC‑MS and NMR for purification/analysis.
- Publication and presentation record demonstrating creative thinking and consistent delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal, networking, and communication skills.
- Ability to work on site in our synthetic laboratory.
- Experience with analytical methods used in degrader development.
- Experience in molecular modeling.
- Experience in ADC chemistry.
$113,600 to $181,600 per year + benefits, annual bonus & equity (variable based on performance).
