Position Summary
Works on separation, identification, and quantification of chemical components of natural and synthetic materials. Designs and performs quantitative and/or qualitative analysis using classical and instrumental methods.
As Scientist, Oligonucleotide Discovery Analytical Chemistry, you and your team will play an important role in the analysis and quality control of GSK's preclinical oligonucleotide therapeutics pipeline. You will execute and develop advanced analytical methods for a diversity of synthetic oligonucleotide modalities to accelerate GSK's pipeline and platform technology ambitions.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and execute validated analytical methods to enable the high-throughput oligonucleotide production platform.
- Develop and deploy robust analytical methods to support in-house oligonucleotide synthesis, including novel chemistries and conjugates.
- Use advanced analytical technologies to fully characterize novel synthetic oligonucleotides and related species in low-and high-throughput settings.
- Collaborate internally and externally, representing Oligonucleotide Discovery Analytical Chemistry on project teams.
- Support analytical investigations, including root cause analysis, in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- A BS degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience or an MS degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry or a related discipline (or equivalent).
- At least one year of experience using LC/MS(-MS) methodology in a biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or academic setting.
- At least one year of experience performing mass spectrometry data analysis.
- Demonstrable exposure to LC/MS(-MS) method development and troubleshooting.
- Professional experience in the field of oligonucleotide therapeutics.
- Experience with high-resolution LC/MS(-MS) data acquisition and analysis.
- Experience with high-throughput LC/MS(-MS) methodology.
- Experience using reverse phase/ion-pairing, anion exchange, size-exclusion, and/or hydrophilic interaction chromatography.
- Experience with other analytical methodology, such as NMR, X‑ray crystallography, UV/Vis spectrophotometry, or circular dichroism.
- Exposure to other aspects of drug discovery & development, including in vitro biology, bioanalysis, DMPK, delivery, etc.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity working in cross‑functional matrix project teams.

For candidates based in Cambridge, MA;
Waltham, MA;
Rockville, MD; or San Francisco, CA, the annual base salary ranges from $83,325 to $138,875. The compensation includes an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in a share‑based long‑term incentive program, dependent on the role level. Benefits include health care, insurance for employees and families, retirement benefits, paid holidays, vacation, and paid caregiver/parental and medical leave.
