Role Overview

RTX BBN Technologies is seeking an EHS Generalist to support our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) function. The role is based in Cambridge, MA, with occasional support at other BBN locations (including Middletown, RI) that may require limited travel. The program manager will report directly to the EHS Manager and work independently to deliver excellent service, build strong relationships, and manage a diverse workload with attention to detail and deadlines.

What

You Will Do
  • Serve as the program manager for designated EHS programs (electrical safety, lockout/tagout, PPE, sustainability, and other assignments).
  • Provide technical EHS support to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and RTX EHS policies.
  • Assist in the recognition, evaluation, and control of hazards and risks.
  • Manage the self‑inspection program, including software implementation, monitoring completions, addressing findings, tracking closures, analyzing trends, and recommending improvements.
  • Oversee the new hire orientation process, including tracking completion of the New/Transfer Employee EHS Orientation Checklist and delivering orientation training via web‑based platforms or in‑person sessions.
  • Lead the EHS communications program by developing the annual communication plan and creating site‑specific messages and EHS tips for leadership and employees.
  • Complete, update, and maintain EHS risk assessments related to the control of hazardous energy for research- and business‑related machines and equipment.
  • Develop and revise job hazard analyses using the EHS software platform and complete periodic certified PPE hazard assessments.
  • Maintain compliance with EPA’s updated refrigerant management regulations for high‑Global Warming Potential hydrofluorocarbons used in HVAC and refrigeration equipment.
  • Support routine EHS compliance tasks using the EHS software platform and assist with sustainability activities such as Green Gemba walks and water leak inspections.
  • Assist with equipment inspections and inventory maintenance for above‑ground storage tanks, transformers, oil/water separators, pumps, oxygen sensors, ladders, soldering workstations, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform additional duties such as ergonomics assessments and industrial hygiene monitoring as assigned.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor's or Master of Science in an EHS‑related field (environmental and occupational health sciences, industrial hygiene, safety, public health, biology, chemistry, or engineering) from an accredited college or university.
  • 2+ years of relevant EHS experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Knowledge of EHS regulations, including OSHA, NIOSH, and EPA resources.
  • Strong technical, interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks and projects.
  • Professional certification (CIH, CSP, CHMM) or strong interest in pursuing certification.
Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $68,900 – $131,100 USD, commensurate with experience.
