Job OverviewAs a Field Application Scientist, you will partner with the sales team to advance opportunities from initiation to close, delivering product demonstrations, overseeing proof of concept processes, and ensuring seamless handover to professional services and customer support. You will also contribute technical insights that inform product enhancement and enhance customer engagement strategies.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with sales representatives to achieve customer engagements that drive adoption of our solutions.
- Conduct thorough discovery sessions to identify customer needs and requirements.
- Design and execute custom/highly configured software demonstrations to support pre‑sales activities.
- Lead pre‑sales activities such as POCs, pilots, workshops, and evaluations specific to the product area.
- Assist with responses to RFIs/RFPs related to the product area.
- Provide supplemental support for canned demonstrations as required in the territory.
- Share strategic insights with product management and marketing based on customer feedback and market trends to guide product development and positioning.
- Bachelor’s degree in Organic Chemistry, Formulations, Cheminformatics, or related STEM discipline.
- 3+ years of laboratory experience in research or industry.
- Strong understanding of synthetic chemistry.
- 3+ years of experience in polymer or formulation chemistry (plus).
- 3+ years of experience with scientific and informatics solutions, including Chem Draw.
- MS or PhD in Organic Chemistry, Formulations, Cheminformatics, or related STEM discipline.
- Experience with Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) and analytics platforms such as Spotfire.
- Proficiency in scripting languages and RESTful APIs.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey solution value.
- Highly customer‑oriented with experience engaging clients at all levels.
- Travel to customer sites and conferences (30‑40% expected).
- Previous customer‑facing experience.
