Facilities Electrical Controls Technician – Astra Zeneca
Location:
290 Binney Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts 02142 (online applications only)
Schedule:
Full time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Pay: $48.00–$53.00 per hour.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and coordinate building automation, HVAC vibration & temperature monitoring, fire/life‑safety systems, access controls, lighting systems, and components.
- Provide rapid support to R&D activities by responding to equipment & system issues that could impact experiments, testing schedules, or facility reliability.
- Work cross‑functionally with mechanical, electrical, and utilities teams on diagnostics, equipment upgrades, and maintenance; support integrated HVAC & environmental control operations.
- Coordinate with vendor partners on specialized controls work and assist in small‑scale control projects.
- Maintain system documentation, perform system checks, and ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety regulations, and facility standards.
- Update work statuses and document completed tasks in CMMS via mobile device.
- Read blueprints and diagrams, determine materials needed, estimate time and costs, and request supplies.
- Construct, finish, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems throughout campus, including EMT, rigid, plastic‑bond, and steatite conduit.
- Troubleshoot all electrical systems and locate cables (low to high voltage).
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, servicing, and repairing electrical systems.
- Assist in manpower, material, and deadline planning for jobs or projects.
- Respond to emergency problems and perform repairs as needed.
- Maintain logs, perform rounds, complete tests, inspections, and recommend preventive maintenance improvements.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician in an institutional setting.
- Knowledge of local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC).
- Valid Massachusetts electrician license (journeyman).
- Experience working with blueprints, specifications, or models to determine work layouts and perform routine calculations.
- Rudimentary ability to use hand‑operated construction equipment.
- Physical capability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly; able to kneel, bend, and perform strenuous labor for extended periods.
