About the Role

As a CBRE Lead Plumber you will support a large, regulated life sciences R&D environment, ensuring the reliable operation of critical plumbing and mechanical systems that support laboratory, research, and development activities. You will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, testing, installation, and troubleshooting across domestic water, sanitary, process piping, and specialty lab utility systems.

This role is part of CBRE’s Engineering and Technical Services function, where precision, compliance, and system reliability are essential to maintaining safe, controlled laboratory operations. The ideal candidate understands the importance of working within GMP‑influenced, clean, and mission‑critical spaces, following strict safety, documentation, and change‑control procedures.

The position is based at a modern R&D campus offering free parking and is conveniently located within walking distance of an MBTA station, providing an accessible and commuter‑friendly work environment.

Day Shift M-F 7:00AM - 3:00PM

What You’ll Do
  • Assign work orders and estimate the time and materials needed to complete repairs. Maintain an inventory of adequate supplies and tools.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs to advanced mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems. Keep facility and building systems up to applicable standards as assigned.
  • Repair, install, replace, test, and troubleshoot the water and medical gas supply and distribution system.
  • Install new water systems, piping, and fixtures by blueprints, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Ensure waste and vent lines are in good operating condition using a plumber’s snake, vacuum plunger, or jet washer.
  • Assist other staff members or contractors on projects or equipment installations.
  • Complete plumbing safety inspections on backflow devices.
  • Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives related to building operations and work safety.
  • Develop an energy management program. Ensure all systems operate in the most efficient manner.
  • Oversee and inspect the work performed by outside contractors. Respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co‑workers, and/or supervisors.
  • Direct the implementation of a preventive maintenance program to ensure that building machinery and systems meet or exceed their rated life. Perform repairs and emergency maintenance as needed.
  • Review and sign off on inspections of building systems including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing to ensure the operation of equipment is within design capabilities and achieves environmental conditions prescribed by the client.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in‑depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in‑depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipate potential objections and persuade others, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.

What You’ll Need
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5‑8 years of job‑related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
  • MA Plumbing License is Required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
