YSS is seeking energetic night owls to join our team as Full‑Time Residential Overnight Floats!

The Float supports the overnight staff in our Crisis Stabilization and Residential Addiction Treatment programs. During the evening, overnight, and morning hours, this position is responsible for ensuring the security of all residential buildings and assisting with the supervision and care of residential clients. This position must remain awake for its entire shift.

Responsibilities
  • Float as scheduled among the Crisis Stabilization & Residential Treatment programs to provide support to overnight staff and ensure security of the facilities.
    • Walk from facility to facility every 15‑20 minutes to complete facility checks and staff check‑ins. This will sometimes require being outside in extreme weather conditions.
    • Complete time stamp at each location during each visit.
    • Complete a sweep of the interior of each facility, ensuring doors and windows are locked.
    • Observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
    • Communicate with overnight staff at each facility to identify necessary tasks and security concerns.
    • Complete checks of the outside of each facility three times during each shift.
  • Assist in oversight of the residents during the late night and early morning, relating to residents in a caring, supportive, and therapeutic manner.
    • Take an active interest in each resident and be aware of individual presenting problems, behaviors, and personalities.
    • Determine appropriate use of any additional apparatus used in rooms at night (air conditioners, fans, etc.).
    • Enforce program rules and restrictions consistently, fairly, and firmly.
    • Immediately report any non‑authorized absences/elopements during the night in accordance with program policy and procedure.
    • Assist Overnight Specialists in providing crisis intervention when needed and alert on‑call staff of a medical or counseling emergency.
    • Assist Overnight Specialists with bed checks per program standard. Record all bed checks by using the time clock.
    • Assist Overnight Specialists in overseeing the morning schedule for clients, including wake‑up, breakfast, showers, and morning schedule.
    • Assist with filing or other paperwork as requested.
  • May assist in providing nightly maintenance of the house and ensuring safe living conditions in compliance with fire, safety, and health regulations.
    • Complete facility laundry (towels, linens, kitchen towels, etc.) nightly. Vacuum and dust offices and empty office trash when necessary.
    • Communicate with other overnight staff regarding household chores done, utilizing checklists at each facility, and report any needed maintenance or repairs of the facility.
    • Complete daily checks of each facility’s vehicles and fuel them or request service by the Facility Supervisor when necessary.
  • Attend required meetings:
    Individual supervision, Overnight Specialist, Staff in‑service trainings, etc.

Qualifications

MUST HAVES
:

  • A High School Diploma/equivalent
  • One year related work or life experience
