Join Anvil Diagnostics if you believe that complex health data can and should be acquired with simple, accessible assays.
We are building comprehensive assays for pathogen diagnostics with existing digital PCR hardware. We apply statistics and machine learning concepts to microfluidics and molecular biology. We challenge conventional approaches to assay design and the notion that clinicians should have to choose between rapid assays that provide limited information and complex assays that are impractical for routine use.
In this contracted project, you will help develop a bioinformatics pipeline to build a curated microbial genomics database, and link it with Anvil’s experimental data and signal processing algorithms. This will help Anvil develop assays more efficiently by improving the predictive modeling of assay performance.
At a small startup, you will interface very closely with the founding team, and you will have substantial ownership of the execution of your objectives. We are looking for someone who can creatively approach complex problems at the intersection of biochemistry and computational biology, and mature solutions into robust tools for ongoing use by multiple team members.
Our focus is on finding the right candidate for this short-term project. This position could evolve into long-term employment if there is strong mutual fit, but interest in permanent employment is neither expected nor necessary. We can flexibly work with your schedule and bandwidth. Engagement may range from higher-level consultation with limited hours, although time for hands‑on development is preferred.
The Project- Create and maintain genomic databases to guide assay design
- Develop tools to improve predictions of primer‑target interactions that leverage empirical data
- Expert understanding of nucleic acid biochemistry and oligo design principles
- Expert in Python for data analysis, visualization, tool development
- Experience with genomic databases and sequence analysis tools
- Experience in building and maintaining databases for R&D teams
- Experience with in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assay development
- Experience developing clinical-grade software and working within quality systems
- Experience with wet‑lab experiments, or significant experience interfacing with bench scientists in interdisciplinary environments
- Previous experience at an early startup
Please consider applying even if you do not meet all the criteria above. We understand that the best candidate may surprise us with unique qualifications and perspectives.
Anvil Diagnostics is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to building a diverse and inclusive environment. We are tackling notoriously difficult clinical problems that affect everyone, and our success is conditioned on our ability to welcome team members of all backgrounds and perspectives. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
