PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a global leader in the aviation industry to find a Software Engineer – Test & Verification ready to push the boundaries of quality, safety, and innovation. Role OverviewJob Type: Full‑Time, 12‑Month Contract
Location:
Cambridge, MA (Fully Onsite)
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate:
Starting at $68.86/hour
In this role, you will ensure the reliability and performance of mission‑critical software systems used in aviation. Your work will directly contribute to safer skies by validating complex systems through cutting‑edge testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) environments.
What You’ll Do- Setting up and configuring test environments (hardware, software, and networks) to mirror production systems
- Designing, developing, and executing test plans, cases, and scenarios aligned with software requirements
- Performing functional, performance, and safety testing, identifying defects and vulnerabilities
- Developing and maintaining automated test scripts and frameworks to improve testing efficiency
- Integrating testing processes with CI/CD (Dev Sec Ops ) pipelines
- Supporting and maintaining Hardware‑In‑the‑Loop (HIL) systems for avionics software validation
- Using and exploring AI tools to enhance testing and automation processes
- Collaborating with cross‑functional teams to refine software requirements and improve test strategies
- Documenting test artifacts, results, metrics, and maintaining compliance with security and data standards

- Lead test environment setup and verification strategies
- Mentor junior engineers and guide technical execution
- Drive integration of software testing with HIL and CI/CD systems
- Contribute to advanced automation and system‑level validation initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of software engineering experience, or Master’s degree with 1+ year of experience
- Strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, MATLAB, or similar
- Ability to work onsite in Cambridge, MA (no relocation provided)
- This position requires use of information or access to facilities subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). These regulations may limit access of controlled technologies:
1) to U.S. Persons, including U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents, and other narrow categories including refugees and asylees, or
2) to certain foreign nationals that have received an export license. - Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.
- Experience with HIL testing systems (NI Test Stand, Veri Stand, LabVIEW, or similar)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
- Experience working with AI tools in test environments
- Knowledge of avionics communication protocols (MIL‑STD‑1553, ARINC 429, CAN)
- Experience with NI PXIe systems and hardware integration
- Familiarity with FPGA testing/architecture and avionics display validation
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) - Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
