• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms and software development in Java and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience designing, building, or maintaining large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience with SQL and relational database concepts, including queries, database definition, or schema design.
• Experience with parsers and compiler construction.

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience building or operating Google infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in database internals and diagnosing issues around storage, memory, performance and tuning.

The Big Query SQL Translation Service accelerates migrations to Big Query by automatically converting SQL from over a dozen database performer databases into Big Query Google SQL using a semantic compiler engine and the latest Gemini AI LLMs.

• Write and test product or system development code.
• Guide design reviews with peers and stakeholders to select among available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues.
• Continuously enhance the SQL translation engine to improve ease of use and keep pace with the latest SQL advancements.
• Extend the engine to leverage semantic analysis capabilities for new migration use cases, including lineage of SQL workloads, query optimization and database workload validation.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $174,000 - $253,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + bonus + equity + benefits.
