Principal AI Software Engineer

• Drive technical vision and architect enterprise AI applications across multiple company initiatives
• Set AI architecture and technical vision across products
• Lead cross-team initiatives with product and data science leaders
• Design RAG and agent workflows and optimize LLM integrations
• Build multi-tenant, high-availability systems with observability
• Establish AI cost management, monitoring, and security standards
• Partner with product, data science, and engineering leaders
• Mentor teams and raise standards in Agile, testing, security, and documentation
• Complete a required three-month hybrid onboarding residency at the GE Vernova Advanced Research Center in Niskayuna, NY for Cambridge-based resources
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers during the onboarding residency

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field
• 10+ years of programming experience in a relevant language
• Experience using modern front-end frameworks:
  React, Vue, or Angular
• Experience with multiple backend languages:
  Python preferred, Java, Node.js, or Go
• Proven track record designing and shipping production applications incorporating LLMs or AI services at scale
• Experience with vector databases such as Milvus, Pinecone, Weaviate, or pgvector
• Advanced embedding model optimization in production applications
• Expertise with multiple LLM providers and AI orchestration frameworks such as Lang Chain, Llama Index, or custom frameworks
• Extensive experience leading technical teams, driving cross-team initiatives, and providing technical mentorship
• Expert-level experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Advanced containerization experience with EKS
• Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY or Cambridge, MA
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
• Preferred: 13+ years of full software development lifecycle experience
• Preferred:
  Advanced understanding of enterprise RAG architectures, semantic search optimization, and conversation memory management at massive scale
• Preferred:
  Experience with multi-modal AI integration, model fine-tuning, and deployment of custom AI models
• Preferred:
  Experience with AI observability tools, cost optimization strategies, and enterprise-scale performance monitoring
• Preferred:
  Experience with cross-organizational collaboration and influencing teams’ directions and road maps
• Preferred:
  Experience with technical strategy development and technology roadmap planning

Demonstrates expertise in architecting enterprise AI applications, leading cross-team initiatives, and optimizing LLM integrations. Proficient in advanced AI cost management, security standards, and mentoring technical teams in Agile methodologies.
