Transportation / Substitute Bus Aide

Transportation Supervisor

At-will, as needed

The Substitute Bus Aide assists the bus driver in maintaining student safety and supervision while being transported to and from school and school-related activities. This role ensures students are seated appropriately, follows safety protocols, and provides support for students with special needs when required.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to work effectively with children of all ages, including those with special needs
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Must pass BCI/FBI background checks
• Ability to complete required training as directed by the district

• Assist students in boarding, seating, and exiting the bus safely
• Secure seat belts, harnesses, or other safety equipment as needed
• Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe, orderly environment on the bus
• Provide support to students with disabilities or medical needs as assigned
• Communicate effectively with the bus driver regarding student needs and concerns
• Follow district policies and state laws related to transportation and student safety
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor

• Exposure to varying weather conditions
• Frequent sitting, standing, bending, and moderate lifting when assisting students
• Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis
