Motor Equipment Operator I​/Laborer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate pick-up trucks, dump trucks, panel trucks, or other vehicles with a rated capacity of 26,001 pounds, including equipment such as rubbish compactor trucks, road sweepers, snow loaders, leaf loaders, snow fighters, sidewalk rollers, and road flashers.
• Load and unload trucks; pick up and haul materials; plow and sand highways; grease, oil and clean equipment; change tires; and perform minor maintenance.
• Perform manual labor tasks when not operating a motor equipment.

• Must possess a current and valid Commercial Driver’s License, Classification

• Must have at least one year of driving experience.
• Must present a valid Department of Transportation medical certificate.
• Must possess a satisfactory driving record.
• Must provide, upon interview, a copy of an unattested driving record dated within the previous six months.
• Must register with the FMCSA Commercial Driver’s License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).).
• All candidates will participate in an on-road driving assessment as part of the interview process.
• Internal applicants must have permanent civil service status.

All labor positions in the Cambridge Department of Public Works require a combination of lifting between 25-100 pounds, proper bending, squatting, stretching, pushing, climbing, dragging, and pulling.

Exposure to all weather conditions. Work in a moderate to high noise level environment caused by the sound of machinery or powered equipment. Occasional odor may occur during the course of work.
