Assistant Site Superintendent

JOB OPENING! BJ Baas Builders, Inc. is a growing, future-focused, regional commercial General Contractor located in Cambridge, MN. We strive for excellence in all we do and are seeking a motivated individual to join our Field Operations team. Projects range from multi-family, retail and industrial, to medical, religious & higher education.

• Assist in overseeing daily jobsite operations, safety, and weekly toolbox talk meetings.
• Assist in the scheduling and coordination of material deliveries, subcontractor activity, and in-house labor needs.
• Assist in inspecting and verifying all work in progress by subcontractors. Includes field measuring of formwork, rebar sizes, rough-opening sizes, rough-in locations, etc.
• Assist in enforcing all safety requirements to all suppliers (as pertains), subcontractors, and employees. This includes writing safety violation notices to subcontractors as needed.
• Learn and assist on the three-week scheduling process.
• Keep a daily jobsite log.
• Document on-going construction activity through daily photos.
• Assist in maintaining company equipment in good working order.
• Be a positive display of our company to our clients.

• 2 or 4‑year degree in a related field preferred
• Previous construction experience is highly valued
• Strong communication skills – verbal and written
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• High attention to detail
• Basic computer skills, experience with Excel, Outlook, Project, and Bluebeam a plus.
• Self‑motivated, resourceful, strong work ethic, and willing to learn
• Physical ability to: lift up to 50 pounds on occasion; bend; stoop; kneel; carry; reach (including overhead); operate forklift/skidsteer (with training); endurance for walking, standing, and working in outdoor elements year round; use hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, or control objects and tools; hear and communicate by telephone and in person; and have visual acuity to safely work and operate hand tools and power tools associated with construction.
