Job Title

School Year Qualifications/

Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education required (Master's degree preferred). Must have or be eligible for a valid Minnesota State Teaching License in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH).

Successful background check is required. Experience working in a school district is preferred, but not required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Needed:

Good computer skills and comfort with everyday office software and equipment. Great organizational skills—ability to manage your time, handle interruptions, and meet deadlines. Ability to understand school policies and apply them to your daily work. Comfortable with tracking student data. Clear written and verbal communication skills for writing professional emails and reports. Strong problem-solving skills and a knack for building positive, collaborative relationships with students, parents, and coworkers.

Specific Tasks:

Train and support classroom teachers and staff who work with DHH students; partner with educational audiologists and special education teams to design support plans; guide and oversee educational interpreters; test and evaluate student progress and assess classroom acoustics (listening environments); monitor student hearing equipment and train staff in the use of assistive listening technology; maintain accurate service records to meet state guidelines;

teach students skills related to assistive technology, sign language, language and speech development, and auditory training; help students build independence through self-advocacy, transition skills, and effective use of interpreter services; and attend district training sessions and professional development workshops. Follows regular school/assignment hours
