Qualifications/
Experience:
High School Diploma/GED and passed Para Pro/Para Educator testing (or 60 college credits) required. A successful background check is required.
Prefer experience working with children.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Needed:
Patience, flexibility, love for children, confidentiality, teamwork, self-starter, takes direction easily, excellent communication skills, behavior management skills, assist in the classroom and in special education classroom. Exemplifies the following Five Character Traits: compassion, respect, responsibility, self-discipline, and honesty.
Specific Tasks:
Utilize Red Rover, the district's substitute placement and absence management system, to accept and manage substitute assignments, maintain availability, and complete substitute-related responsibilities. Work with student throughout the day assisting with behavior and academics. Refocus the student in the classroom, de-escalate negative behavior, recognize and acknowledge positive behavior, work cooperatively with classroom teacher and Special Education staff. Work to increase independence in children.
