Performs diagnostic radiological imaging in more than one modality, which may include CT (computerized tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), general radiology, nuclear medicine, diagnostic sonography, or mammography depending on the location of the department. These procedures are directed by providers or radiologists, and the technologist provides timely and quality service to the patient. The technologist follows Imaging Department policies to maintain a safe, efficient, and economical environment and interacts with patients to welcome, explain, and respond to questions and concerns during and following the procedure.
PrincipleResponsibilities
- Completes procedure in compliance with physician orders and department guidelines
- Identifies patient with two identifiers.
- Documents accurately all needed aspects of the procedure.
- Observes and communicates with patient, responding to needs.
- Maintains safe patient environment in procedure area.
- Performs procedures with high degree of accuracy
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of all diagnostic equipment.
- Maintains work knowledge and competence.
- Gathers all relevant information to assist in interpretation of images.
- Verifies all imaging has appropriately transferred to imaging storage and retrieval system.
- Provides accurate clerical function
- Uses Excellian (electronic medical record).
- Understands the Enterprise Medical Imaging/Picture Archiving and Communication System.
- Ensures all documentation is complete post procedure.
- Communicates with supervisor and team
- Reports problems, issues or ideas.
- Provides assistance, ideas and information to support the work of others.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Vocational or technical training graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
- The multi‑modality role includes any combination of the following: radiologic (XR), computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), interventional radiology (IR), nuclear medicine (NM), mammography, or ultrasound (US). See requirements below.
- If working in radiologic, CT, MRI, or IR, the technologist must be:
- Registered Technologist – The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required upon hire.
- Must meet at least ONE of the following requirements:
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross.
- Allina in‑house BLS training (within 30 days of hire).
- Medium work.
- Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (
* Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently. - $7,500 STARTING BONUS FOR ELIGIBLE EXTERNAL TALENT.
- Will train in CT.
- Primarily Day/Evening shifts.
- 0.8 FTE (64 hours per 2‑week pay period).
- This position offers a combination of 8‑hour and 12‑hour shifts.
- Every 8th weekend rotation (12‑hour shifts Saturday/Sunday).
Pay Range: $41.28 to $57.11 per hour.
The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend, and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
