The Production Manager oversees daily production activities, workforce planning, production scheduling, workflow optimization, inventory coordination, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key role in developing and implementing Lean Manufacturing principles to improve productivity, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and support the company's long-term operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:Production & Operations Management
- Manage and provide leadership to approximately 30 manufacturing employees across production operations.
- Oversee the day-to-day manufacturing of wildlife tracking devices and related products and ensure production activities meet established quality, productivity, delivery, and cost objectives.
- Establish clear expectations for production employees and ensure employees follow established work instructions, manufacturing procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Purchasing, Shipping, and other departments to ensure smooth production operations.
- Identify and address production issues, bottlenecks, equipment concerns, and workflow interruptions in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, staffing, materials, and available production capacity.
- Identify and eliminate waste in manufacturing processes, including excess movement, waiting, overproduction, defects, and inefficient workflows.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or production operations.
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning and scheduling.
- Experience implementing or utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong computer skills and ability to learn and utilize manufacturing, ERP, inventory, and production management systems.
