Organizational Summary
New Pathways provides shelter and resources for families with children experiencing homelessness and develops case plans that promote families moving towards self-sufficiency. New Pathways partners with area churches and housing management agencies so families have a safe place to live while working with staff.
Job SummaryThe Lead Client Services Advocate contributes to our empowering environment by providing management, support, crisis intervention, advocacy and applying his/her problem-solving skills to challenges being faced by the families we serve.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities Personnel Management- Oversee and schedule direct service staff including holiday rotation.
- First point of contact for advocate calls.
- Assure services provided by advocates are high quality and reflect the agency philosophy and standards.
- In partnership with the Program/Case Manager, ensure on-call rotation is maintained and available to shelter advocates.
- In partnership with the Program/Case Manager, recruit, screen, orient, train, supervise, maintain regular contact, recognize, evaluate and model standards for advocates and interns.
- Ensure advocates are completing their job responsibilities.
- Inventory supplies, submit list of needed supplies to Admin for purchasing.
- Keep walkways safe and clear that have 2” or under of snow.
- Oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the facility, perform some routine maintenance.
- Ensure resource directories for staff use are comprehensive and easily accessible.
- Oversee evening meals, ensure families who sign up attend and provide support to the meal volunteers.
- Oversee evening programming.
- Greet prospective clients, volunteers, and community members in a positive and friendly manner.
- Screen potential clients for eligibility, complete enrollment paperwork and conduct program orientation for new participants.
- Support and facilitate client participation in all aspects of program and housing requirements.
- Complete timely notifications and correspondence with clients, staff and volunteers.
- Maintain the confidentiality and privacy of all residents, both with other residents and the external community.
- Document interactions with participants at least once per shift.
- Collaborate and offer input for client success to Program/Case Manager.
- Explain program policies and guidelines to clients, and ensure they are being followed. Communicate and document any non-compliant behavior to Program/Case Manager and document in their file.
- Conduct drug testing.
- Crisis intervention.
- Ensure clients are keeping their private units and common areas clean.
- Priority list assessment (HMIS).
- Room checks.
- Bag and personal belonging checks of new residents.
- 6-Month Follow Up Program check ins.
- Other duties as assigned.
- College Degree preferred.
- At least 1 year experience of assisting others.
- Experience administering rules and guidelines.
- Experience managing staff.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality and privacy.
- Dependable and reliable.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Requires use of interpersonal communication and conflict resolution techniques.
Must be able to occasionally ascend/descend stairs multiple times per day and lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.
