Position
Adult Probation Agent (Temporary)
LocationCambridge, MN

Job TypeTemporary – 20 weeks (approx.) starting mid‑June 2026 through November 2026
Work ScheduleMonday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Compensation$28.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities- Manage assigned cases; review case documentation; conduct assessments; address criminogenic needs; determine client risk levels; plan cases; monitor client compliance with court orders; mentor and coach clients; refer to agencies.
- Conduct field visits and drug tests; complete reports; provide testimony in court.
- Conduct pre‑sentence investigations; complete pre‑dispositional reports, domestic violence inventories, chemical use screenings, and cognitive restructuring programming.
- Complete general office tasks; conduct in‑house UA collections; answer calls; assist offenders; interact with outside agencies.
- Maintain files and reports; review documents; contact clients for updates and assistance.
- Other duties as assigned; requires timely attendance.
- Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement, criminal justice, criminology, or related field and minimal experience managing cases, coaching clients, completing reports, or an equivalent combination.
- Valid Minnesota driver’s license.
- None.
- Knowledge of evidence‑based practices (motivational interviewing, LS‑CMI, case planning).
- Knowledge of counseling and guidance practices and procedures in community and region.
- Knowledge of data practices.
- Skill in effective oral and written communication.
- Skill in using personal computers and current software programs.
- Ability to provide programming in a classroom setting to clients.
- Ability to complete thorough social history investigations and analyze results.
- Ability to utilize community resources to benefit the client.
- Ability to organize assigned work and develop and supervise effective work methods.
- Ability to work effectively with a variety of clients.
- Ability to evaluate and interpret case material and formulate case plans.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to make independent decisions, including apprehension and detention of offenders with supervisor/Director oversight.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers, system partners, public officials, and the public.
- Physical: occasional exertion of up to 25 lbs, standing, walking, sitting, using hands, occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching.
- Sensory: standard vision requirements; vocal communication; hearing required.
- Environmental: exposure to outdoor weather, blood borne pathogens, moderate noise.
