Job Description

This position is for the school year and will be servicing Belpre City Schools and Wolf Creek Local Schools in Washington County. Salary is based on education and years of experience.

Keep current on educational issues and psychological practices.

Provide intensive psycho-educational evaluations of individual children identified or suspected of having a disability.

Lead development of functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans to assist teachers in improving student behaviors within the classroom.

Contribute to written reports of the evaluation team and interpret results of psycho-educational evaluations for consideration in IEP development for each child.

Prepare and submit written reports specifying findings of psycho-educational assessment.

Consult with teachers, parents, and other educational personnel on matters relating to the education and/or mental health of children with disabilities to ensure appropriate education programs.

Provide individual and group counseling for students with disabilities and/or their families.

Serve as consultant to schools in development of educational evaluation, pupil and personnel policies, in-service activities, curriculum, and staff development.

Assist educational staff in implementing or modifying instructional strategies, classroom management procedures, and intervention strategies within the classroom.

Provide leadership from the field of school psychology regarding best practices in developing the multi-level system of supports within the district.

Provide screening programs, mental health activities, and referral to and consultation with outside service agencies.

Adhere to a typical weekly schedule.

Work both individually and as a team member with other OVESC personnel and personnel of the assigned district.

Possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.

Report suspected child abuse and/or neglect to authorities as required by law.

Promote a positive image of the OVESC and school districts.

Maintain an acceptable attendance record and be punctual.

Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Perform other duties as assigned by the OVESC Superintendent or his/her designee.

Job Requirements

Must hold a State of Ohio School Psychologist License.
Master’s degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Ability to work effectively with others.
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
Effective, active listening skills.
Organizational and problem solving skills.
Knowledge of public school policies and practices.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to operate various office equipment.
Ability to learn to operate adaptive equipment.
