Intervention Specialist – Cambridge High School

Cambridge High School (Cambridge, Ohio) – Position for the 2026‑2027 school year.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement goals and objectives, curricula, and management programs for students with disabilities under the general supervision of the building principal.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and parents to provide instruction in the least restrictive environment.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans for students across K‑12 grades.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of struggling learners.
  • Provide direct instructional support in one‑on‑one, small group, and classroom settings.
  • Assess and monitor student progress using formative and summative data to track improvement and adjust interventions.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and school counselors to share progress and provide strategies for continued support.
  • Facilitate small group or individual instruction focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, and other areas requiring additional support.
  • Support students with diverse learning needs, including disabilities, English language learners, and at‑risk students.
  • Conduct regular meetings and progress reports with school staff to review and evaluate intervention strategies and outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of Multi‑Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
  • Provide professional development and training for staff on effective instructional strategies and interventions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of interventions, student progress, and communications with parents and staff.
  • Stay current on best practices, research, and educational trends related to interventions and student support.

  • Problem solving processes and creative thinking skills
  • Use of technology as a productivity tool and method of communication; proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Accurate student record maintenance
  • Assessment of student intellectual and physical needs to develop appropriate individual education and behavior plans
  • Planning strategies and activities to meet identified needs of students
  • Evaluation of student progress through established procedures, including alternate assessment, formative and summative assessments
  • Analysis and interpretation of assessment data
  • Effective communication, orally and in writing
  • Confidentiality maintenance
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, co‑workers, administrators, and the public
  • Demonstrating ways of supporting students in the regular classroom with teachers and students
  • Analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating program progress with the educational team and implementing changes
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education Intervention Specialist license
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
Working Conditions
  • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
  • Occasional interaction with unruly children and associated safety hazards (slips/falls, falling objects)
  • Potential to deal with students with behavioral risks and to restrain students when properly trained
  • Stressful responsibilities for compliance with laws, regulations, and procedural rules; managing individual student concerns and maintaining discipline; communicating with staff, students, and parents
