As a Maintenance Electrician at Picoma, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment. This position directly impacts equipment quality, uptime, and overall production yield. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands‑on problem‑solving, thrives in a fast‑paced industrial setting, and has a strong aptitude for electrical and mechanical systems.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Perform electrical maintenance on production equipment while adhering to all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Ensure guards and safety mechanisms are properly installed and functional before returning equipment to service
- Monitor inventory levels for parts and supplies; place and verify orders as necessary
- Utilize manual and computerized maintenance management systems to track and report equipment status
- Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and schematics to identify and resolve equipment issues
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and mechanical issues, escalating unresolved problems to supervisors
- Execute breakdown repairs, preventive maintenance tasks, and changeovers to minimize downtime
- Observe and diagnose issues using mechanical devices and precision instruments
- Fabricate replacement parts using standard machine shop tools
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company safety protocols
- Operate powered industrial trucks, overhead cranes, and portable lifting equipment
- Support continuous improvement efforts and participate in team‑based problem solving
- Comply with OSHA safety standards, including hazard communication, lockout procedures, and ergonomics
- Promote a safety‑first culture and adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, preferably in maintenance
- High school diploma or equivalent required; apprenticeship, journeyman training, military service, or equivalent training preferred
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment
- Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with electrical systems and PLCs
- Effective communicator with basic math skills and the ability to read technical documentation
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in a high‑pressure environment
- Ability to pass job‑related testing, physical exam, and drug screening
- Team‑oriented with a strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Stand or walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Bend, twist, stoop, sit, kneel, crawl, and reach in all directions - Other physical demands as required for the position
