Job Summary
The Floating Supervisor provides supervisory support across multiple departments, shifts, or locations as needed. This role fills in for absent supervisors, supports production and staffing needs, ensures compliance with safety and quality standards, and helps maintain smooth daily operations.
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe movement, storage, and distribution of raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing facility to support production operations.
Main Responsibilities:
Supervisor
- Serve as acting supervisor across assigned departments, shifts, or locations.
- Provide daily directions, coaching and oversight to employees.
- Ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are met.
- Enforce company policies, procedures, and work rules consistently
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and employee performance
- Assist with employee training and onboarding
- Respond to operational issues, employee concerns, and equipment or process disruptions.
- Complete required reports, timekeeping approvals and documentation
- Coordinate with maintenance, Quality, HR, and management as needed
- Support continuous improvement, housekeeping and 5S initiatives
- Load, unload and transport raw materials and finished goods to designated areas.
- Supply production lines with materials according to the production schedules
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment safely
- Verify materials against work orders and production requirements
- Maintain accurate inventory records and report shortages or discrepancies
- Remove scrap and waste materials from production areas
- Maintain clean and organize storage areas
- Assist with shipping and receiving if needed
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent; trade school certification preferred.
- 2-5 years of supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or operations environment
- Ability to adapt quickly to different teams, processes, and priorities
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and company policies
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or multiple shifts as required
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout production areas for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing or warehouse environment
- Exposure to noise, machinery, and varying temperatures
- PPE required as applicable.
