Advanced Locate Technician

Job Description

The starting pay for this position is $21 to $32 per hour based on previous experience.

These are daytime, full‑time positions and some overtime may be required. Training will be provided, but prior industry experience is required.

Advanced Locate Technician is responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient locating of underground utilities. This includes thoroughly searching for all underground utilities in an area, properly marking the location, completing the necessary paperwork, and documenting each locate. The position requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions and using a company‑provided laptop and smartphone to document the locate.

• 1 year of utility locating experience required.
• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Previous outdoor experience is a plus.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out‑of‑area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods on varying terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Able to distinguish between colors used to identify wiring and mark underground utilities.
• Computer proficiency.
• Able to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, as well as maps and prints; possess basic math skill to calculate distances.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners. Customer service experience is a plus.
