Ohio Health is seeking an HVAC Technician to support our Engineering, Maintenance & Asset Management team within our Healthcare & Medical Services network. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC, refrigeration, and related building automation systems to ensure safe, reliable, and energy-efficient operation in critical patient care areas. You'll perform preventive maintenance, respond to service calls, interpret technical schematics, and document work in our CMMS.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration equipment across hospital and ambulatory facilities.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime in critical care environments.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control issues in HVAC systems and components.
  • Monitor, adjust, and support building automation systems (BAS/BMS) for optimal comfort and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and regulatory requirements specific to healthcare facilities.
  • Respond to priority service calls and environmental alarms in patient care and support areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, parts usage, and system performance in the CMMS.
  • Collaborate with clinical, facilities, and engineering teams to plan and schedule repairs with minimal impact on patient care.
  • Assist with capital projects, equipment upgrades, and system commissioning as needed.

Required Skills

  • Commercial and institutional HVAC maintenance
  • Refrigeration systems troubleshooting and repair
  • Reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Building automation systems (BAS/BMS) operation
  • Electrical and controls diagnostics for HVAC equipment
  • Brazing, soldering, and safe refrigerant handling
  • Use of HVAC test instruments (manifolds, meters, airflow tools)
  • Computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) usage
  • Knowledge of NFPA, ASHRAE, and healthcare facility codes
  • Energy efficiency and HVAC system optimization
