Responsibilities
  • Drive ERS Affordable Living vehicles on trips including, but not limited to, grocery shopping, other shopping, life enrichment trips, and supply delivery, utilizing safe driving practices including the observance of all State, Federal, and Local laws.
  • Assist residents, when needed, in getting in and out of vehicles, maintaining safety procedures and ensuring resident clearance of closing doors; offer assistance with packages when necessary.
  • Maintain the appearance of ERS vehicles by exterior and interior cleaning.
  • Maintain ERS vehicles in excellent working condition by informing the Transportation Supervisor when preventative maintenance is due and when mechanical problems arise with any part of the bus, including the mechanical lift.
  • Report incidents/accidents to the police and the supervisor as soon as possible; complete and submit an ERS incident report form within 24 hours of any incident or accident occurring.
  • Be reachable by cell phone or text message when on outings, answering or responding only when it is safe to do so.
  • Participate in executing activities as planned by the Activities Team when not driving.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement (preferred but not required).
  • Have current CPR and first aid certification (preferred).
  • Pass an ODOT physical provided by an ERS-approved provider.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Read, write, and understand the English language and speak it understandably.
  • Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
  • Work independently with flexibility and integrity, and effectively with team members, clients, family members, volunteers, government agencies/personnel, and the general public in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Possess adequate sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to meet all job requirements.
  • Move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Be fully up‑to‑date with required vaccinations.
