Senior Ecologist - Team Leader Opportunity

An experienced and ambitious Senior Ecologist is sought to lead a growing ecology team within a respected environmental consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who enjoys balancing technical excellence with team leadership and project delivery. The successful candidate will take the lead on a diverse portfolio of ecological projects, managing surveys, assessments, mitigation strategies and licensing work across a range of sectors.

They will provide guidance and mentorship to junior ecologists, helping to develop skills, maintain high technical standards and foster a collaborative team culture.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is passionate about ecology, confident in client-facing situations and eager to play a key role in shaping the future growth of a small, dynamic team.

Key Responsibilities

Leading and managing ecological projects from inception through to completion.

Mentoring and supporting junior team members.

Overseeing survey programmes, reporting and technical quality assurance.

Building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Contributing to business development and strategic growth initiatives.

Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest professional standards.

Requirements;

Degree-qualified in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.

Significant consultancy experience within the ecology sector.

Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.

Proven project management and report-writing skills.

Protected species survey licences desirable.

Full UK driving licence.
