Job Description:

Handyman / Maintenance Assistant

Location: Cambridge University College (Cambridge)
Hours: 35 hours per week
Benefits: Free on-site parking provided

We are seeking a reliable and practical Handyman / Maintenance Assistant to join our team at one of the colleges affiliated with the University of Cambridge.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys carrying out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks, helping to ensure that college buildings and facilities are kept in excellent condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Changing light bulbs and replacing faulty fittings.
  • Carrying out basic plumbing tasks, including unblocking toilets and sinks.
  • Installing and repairing fixtures and fittings, such as shower curtains and bathroom accessories.
  • Completing minor painting and decorating work.
  • Undertaking general maintenance and repair duties across the college site.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance requests and ensuring a high standard of workmanship.
  • Assisting with the upkeep of student accommodation, offices, and communal areas.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a handyman, caretaking, facilities, or basic maintenance role.
  • Good practical skills across a range of general maintenance tasks.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, decorating, and minor repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • A positive, flexible, and customer-focused approach.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail.
