Job Description

Position:
Computer Science Teacher (9–12) (Job may include coaching duties).

Job Status: Full-Time / 190 days

Classification: Certified

Class: Exempt

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
  • Demonstrate relentless commitment to academic achievement of all students.
  • Establish and maintain an orderly classroom environment in which students actively participate.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of student learning styles and needs.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with IEPs.
  • Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods per district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of instructional assistants and volunteers.
  • Use technology to strengthen teaching and learning.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through interim and formative assessments.
  • May assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor outside activities with campus principal approval.
  • Be a positive role model and support the school district mission.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with policies and handbook.
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; take necessary precautions.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and students regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Participate in professional development to improve job-related skills.
  • Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file required reports and records.
  • Be willing to attend trainings on new technologies.

Other Requirements
  • Must pass a preliminary criminal background and child maltreatment check.

  • Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
  • Must have or be able to complete Science of Reading Awareness (within 30 days of hire).
  • Must have a license to teach in Arkansas in the subject area or be eligible for an alternate pathway.
  • Experience is not required but preferred; willingness to learn coding, technology, and computers.
Work Environment

Most duties are performed in an indoor, temperature-controlled school environment. Noise levels are generally low to moderate. The position is cognitively demanding and requires well-developed professional social and communication skills. Tasks may involve standing, walking, and sitting.
