To help students facilitate learning through the use of art and establish and maintain instructional goals and objectives, according to the Camden Fairview School District’s Art Department.
Responsibilities- Provide art instruction for classes.
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of the students or student groups involved.
- Strive to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and in the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
- Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district positively at all times.
- Demonstrate relentless commitment to the academic achievement of all students.
- Establish and maintain an orderly classroom environment that encourages active student participation.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program.
- Prepare lessons that accommodate differences in student learning styles.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of students’ learning styles and needs.
- Teach district-approved curriculum based on state frameworks and standards.
- Conduct an assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in IEPs.
- Collaborate with other staff members to establish instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and supervise assignments of instructional assistant(s) and volunteer(s).
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through interim and formative assessments.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned; sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students and support the school district’s mission.
- Manage student behavior per student policies and the student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Establish and maintain open communication with parents and students concerning the academic and behavioral progress of students.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in professional development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Stay informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies applicable to classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
