The Missile Solutions Segment of L3
Harris is seeking a Lead, Manufacturing Process Quality Engineer to improve manufacturing process performance and robustness in support of Quality & Mission Assurance objectives. This role is one of three complementary positions within an integrated Q&MA execution team, contributing deep manufacturing process expertise. This role can work out of our offices in Huntsville, Alabama, Orange, Virginia or Camden, Arkansas. This role focuses on understanding how manufacturing processes actually operate, identifying gaps in capability, control, and reliability, and working with manufacturing teams to improve them.
The role emphasizes process improvement over inspection, reinforcing the principle that quality is built in, not inspected in.
Improve manufacturing processes by reducing variation and strengthening control.
Analyze process capability, stability, and failure modes using data-driven methods.
Develop and implement process improvements, controls, and mistake-proofing.
Apply and sustain SPC to maintain process performance.
Support APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and production readiness.
Partner with operators, engineers, and supervisors to improve process understanding and ownership.
Provide manufacturing process expertise to team-led improvement initiatives.
Teach and coach teams on process discipline and quality fundamentals.
Up to 30% business travel to L3
Harris manufacturing sites.Ability to obtain US Security Clearance.
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of 9 years of prior Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or Quality Engineering experience;
Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or Quality Engineering experience;
In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or Quality Engineering experience.4+ years experience improving manufacturing processes in a production environment.
4+ years data analysis experience working with manufacturing data.
4+ years experience teaching, coaching and mentoring others.
2+ years APQP and Process Control experience.
Experience in manufacturing and quality, preferably defense, aerospace, automotive, or similar industries.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (or higher).
Experience with SPC, PFMEA, control plans, and mistake-proofing.
Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar standards.
Prior leadership experience with direct reports or strong cross-functional influence.
Experience collaborating within a Microsoft 365 environment, with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.
