Job Description:
The Propellant Manufacturing Engineer provides night shift engineering support for the manufacture of propellant mixing and casting of rocket motors. Implement process improvements and track operations and performance parameters to ensure high quality, on time delivery. Work consists of making moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem.
Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Problems are generally solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues. Night shift coverage will require the ability to support all propellant and warhead compositions that are manufactured onsite. Work is guided by individual goals and objectives with minimal oversight or direction.
Essential Functions:
- Strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of project management.
- Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures.
- Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.
- Works to achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results.
- Investigates and determines root causes of problems, develops and implements corrective and preventive actions.
- Contributes to the development of goals for the department and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.).
- Minimal travel required.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional
Skills:
- Computer skills sufficient to generate reports and analyze data using MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Minitab.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Statistical Analysis experience.
- Understands rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation.
- Experience working with Energetics and DOD contracts.
