Quality Assurance Specialist Armtec Defense Technologies Overview

Armtec Defense Technologies (Armtec) is an operating unit of the Transdigm Group (NYSE: TDG), an industry leader in aerospace and defense products and services. Armtec is comprised of three business units producing subcomponents for ordnance in Coachella, CA; decoy countermeasure flares in Camden, AR; and radar countermeasure chaff in Lillington NC. This position is staffed in Camden, AR, at Armtec’s world‑class facility for decoy countermeasure flares.

Develop comprehensive documentation that meets Armtec’s standards, gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content. Write user‑friendly content that meets the needs of the target audience, turning insights into language for success. Develop and maintain a detailed database of reference materials, including research usability tests and design specifications. Evaluate content and develop innovative methods for improvement.

• Create and maintain technical documents that include writing and updating SOPs, manuals, instruction guides, FAQs, online help systems, software documentation, and other materials that explain products, services or processes.
• Primary point of contact for the development of Inspection Plans, AIEs/MSEs, and other related program documents.
• Responsible for the preparation of Final Shipment packets/LATS and Final Ammo Data Card approvals, including WARP and WAWF.
• Participate in the creation and execution of quality tools to facilitate root cause investigation, such as Statistical Process Control, 8
  
  Ds, and other lean tools.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, production teams, engineers, developers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to gather information, ensure accuracy, and gain deep understanding of subject matter.
• Organize and structure content, determining the clearest and most logical way to present information for maximum reader comprehension.
• Incorporate visuals by using diagrams, screenshots, illustrations, and other media to enhance understanding and break down complex concepts.
• Ensure consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across various platforms and media.
• Gather feedback from users to identify areas for improvement and update documentation accordingly.
• Write specific types of documentation such as policy and procedure documents, technical specifications, training materials, and more.
• Research, create, and maintain templates and structures for organizing and storing documents.
• Serve on specific teams such as usability studies, quality design teams, or user experience teams.
• Generate innovative ideas for content and workflow solutions.
• Review and/or copyedit content developed by other members of the team.
• Act as a bridge between technical experts and the target audience, ensuring complex information is communicated effectively and efficiently.

• Self‑motivated with excellent research and writing skills, able to interact and communicate effectively with all personnel.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common documents, procedures, and instructions with attention to detail.
• Must have legible and accurate handwriting.
• Work independently or as a team player.
• Strong organizational skills, strong writing skills, and ability to multi‑task.

• Must be able to comprehend written and oral directions.

• Associate degree with 4 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
• Preference for a 4‑year engineering degree or ability to be certified as a Quality Engineer through ASQ for future development.
• MS Office skills (Excel & Word) required. Other software knowledge in statistical tools or programming is a plus.
• Experience working with systems in a manufacturing environment preferred.
