Senior Associate, Manufacturing Engineering (Industrial Engineer) Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to support operations within a complex rocket motor manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for improving manufacturing performance, optimizing production flow, enhancing efficiency, and supporting safe, quality-driven operations in a highly regulated and technically demanding environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, manufacturing experience, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Essential Functions- Support the development of “greenfield” facility layouts with optimized product flow
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, throughput, and quality
- Evaluate production flow, facility layout, labor utilization, and material movement to optimize operations
- Support capacity planning, line balancing, and production scheduling to meet business and customer requirements
- Monitor and report key manufacturing performance metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Conduct time studies, productivity assessments, and workflow analysis
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis tools
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve production issues and improve operational performance
- Support introduction of new products, equipment, and manufacturing processes into production
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Provide on‑floor manufacturing support and recommend solutions to complex production challenges
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional manufacturing environment
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, propulsion, or other regulated manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with rocket motor manufacturing or similarly complex production systems
- Six Sigma certification and/or Lean certification
- Knowledge of capacity analysis, production scheduling, and continuous improvement methods
- Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python
- Knowledge of facility optimization, discrete event simulation, or advanced industrial engineering methods
- Experience supporting complex, high‑reliability, or highly regulated manufacturing operations
- Strong knowledge of process improvement, production planning, capacity analysis, and manufacturing performance metrics
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, and root cause analysis
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
