Bus Mechanic

Job Description

Responsible for performing mechanical repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of district vehicles.

• Maintain professional behavior, appearance, and work ethic to represent the school district in a positive manner at all times.
• Have advanced knowledge in all mechanical aspects pertaining to any and all district vehicles and machinery.
• Be responsible for overseeing all work done on district vehicles.
• Be responsible for purchasing parts kept in stock and those needed for repairs.
• Maintain accurate, updated records of preventative maintenance.
• Be responsible for completing all vehicle inspections and paperwork.
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
• Be responsible for forwarding to supervisor daily work order, service work forms of completed work, and service done on all vehicles.
• Assist the supervisor in assessing the general condition of all district vehicles for recommendation of replacement.
• Attend mechanic workshops as recommended by the supervisor.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Advanced mechanical knowledge and valid CDL Class A license with passenger and air brake endorsement; supervisor experience.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
