Skilled Tradesman
The Skilled Tradesman works under general supervision and is responsible for the work activities of skilled and semi-skilled trades supervisors in craft specialty shops. This position requires experience with HVAC and basic electrical systems. This position is governed by department procedures and institution policy. This is a 12-month, 40 hours per week, on-campus position. If not residing in Camden or surrounding area, relocation is required.

Estimating and ordering material. Coordinating maintenance work orders and construction requests. Inspecting buildings, grounds and equipment for needed repairs or preventive maintenance. Providing cost estimates of repair to buildings or equipment. Checking work done by physical plant staff and outside contractors to ensure that all electrical, mechanical and safety codes are met. Preparing periodic reports on maintenance activities and construction projects.
Troubleshooting and installing electrical and HVAC systems. Calculating loads for electrical and HVAC systems. Designing lighting systems. Evaluating building systems to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Monitoring department procedures to ensure proper operation and accountability. Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned.
Education:
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
Experience:
Three to seven years related experience. Other Requirements Knowledge of methods and practices used in the operation and maintenance of the physical plant. Knowledge of building regulations and codes. Knowledge of university rules and regulations. Ability to inspect job sites to ensure compliance with work requests and specifications.
