Job Summary
A Lyman-Morse project manager is responsible for the supervision of assigned boat and yacht projects. He/she must have a “can do” attitude to go above and beyond to ensure the company delivers products demanded by the marketplace and provides excellent service to the company’s customers.
Scope of WorkProject managers are expected to bill 40 hours per week and manage between 5 and 20 projects per year. Work assigned to project managers tends to be on a larger scale and have significantly longer timelines.
Key Responsibilities- Directing and coordinating the actions of company workers and subcontractors to ensure high quality products and services are provided to customers on a consistent basis.
- Working directly with customers on designs, estimates, revisions and the execution of yacht repair and refit projects.
- Being open to new technologies, products, processes for the construction of specialized projects and other potential offerings.
- Ensuring that the operations manager and yard managers are informed on a timely basis of major decisions involving construction scheduling, service work, assignment of personnel and other critical issues that might affect customer relationships, facility availability, etc.
- Verifying that all work is conducted in a manner that protects workers and the environment from unsafe exposure to chemicals, odors and other potentially harmful effects of the service work.
- Participating with other members of management in the operation of the business, including customer relationships and other critical functions.
- Working with Human Resources to ensure that sufficient personnel (employees or sub- contractors) are available to serve the needs of the Company and ensure that all reporting personnel are adequately trained, positioned and compensated for their positions.
- Participating in regular performance reviews of employees.
- Work history in a fast-paced setting with multiple facets in a dynamic environment.
- Familiarity in the design, planning and construction of high-quality marine projects
- Background in boat repair, engines and maintenance, including sailboats, power boats, dinghies and other watercraft.
- Experience with estimating and communicating costs of on-going and potential projects
- Exposure to ERP systems
- Degree, certificate and/or work experience in project management, customer service, hospitality, yacht maintenance, or related specialties such as ABYC certifications.
- Additional training in various manufacturing and management subjects is useful.
