Sustainability Manager Ready to take sustainability from a concept to a true business strategy? This is a high-visibility opportunity to build and lead a sustainability program from the group up with a global manufacturer, partnering directly with Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, Commercial, and executive leadership. You’ll have autonomy to shape the strategy, drive ESG and product sustainability initiatives, and make a measurable impact across the organization.
The Sustainability Manager owns and drives the sustainability and ESG strategy, aligning corporate goals, regulatory requirements, and market expectations. This role is accountable for sustainability performance, disclosures, product sustainability initiatives, and external engagement, serving as their primary sustainability representative.
Key Responsibilities Strategy, Governance and External Engagement- Own and execute their sustainability and ESG strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, customer requirements, and industry best practices.
- Establish sustainability priorities, roadmaps, and targets.
- Monitor emerging regulations, market trends, and customer sustainability requirements, translating impacts into business actions.
- Develop and maintain sustainability policies, governance structures, and internal controls to ensure consistency, data integrity, and audit readiness.
- Own company- and product-level sustainability metrics, including carbon footprint, energy, waste, and resource efficiency.
- Lead ESG data collection, validation, submission, and data governance.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and transparency of sustainability data across all disclosures and customer responses.
- Partner with Marketing and their Global teams to develop sustainability reports, customer materials, and external communications.
- Collaborate with R&D, Engineering and Operations teams to integrate sustainability, building performance, and evolving energy and building code requirements into product development and manufacturing processes.
- Support product sustainability positioning related to blowing agents, formulation choices, and life-cycle impacts, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Identify and assess sustainability risks and opportunities across operations and products, while also recommending and driving improvement initiatives.
- Serve as their primary sustainability representative to leadership, customers, industry associations, and external stakeholders.
- Support supplier sustainability engagement, including data collection and alignment with their sustainability expectations.
- Monitor and actively engage with sustainability-related policy, code, and standards development, emerging regulations, market trends, and customer sustainability requirements, translating them into actionable business strategies.
- Lead cross-functional sustainability initiatives and working groups to ensure timely and effective execution.
- Manage sustainability-related external consultants, tools, and projects as needed.
- Track progress against sustainability goals and report performance to internal stakeholders.
Salary $100,000 - $120,000

Qualifications & Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Minimum 5-8 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, or related roles, preferably within chemical manufacturing or industry environments.
- Ability to travel 25% of the time, or as needed to support the role.
- Demonstrated experience developing and leading sustainability or ESG programs.
- Strong working knowledge of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting standards, and disclosure systems, with expertise in building materials or construction-related markets preferred.
- Expertise in product carbon foot printing, product category rule (PCR) management, life cycle assessment (LCA), environmental product declaration (EPD), and sustainability certifications.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
- Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical sustainability topics into business-relevant insights for internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and sustainability-related software and reporting tools.
